I had a most relaxing weekend! After having saturday off I was able to sit down and have a good knitting session, considering I don't have much time for it anymore it was nice to put a few hours aside to knit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So here's a project I haven't actually announced on here yet, its a very simple knitted blanket in a soft baby pink yarn. It's taken much longer than I thought as I started it last year when my baby sister was due in November. I hadn't finished it then and I still havent now and its the 10th of February! Hopefully she won't have outgrown it by the time its finished. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I've delved into crochet a little and I'm thinking about adding a simple white crochet edging just to make it a bit fancy. Otherwise it will look a bit plain! This will increase the finish time but perhaps only by a few days to a week!</div>

The needles are 4mm Signatures with the stiletto tips and 100cm cable. (I highly recommend these needles, the stilettos are perfect for lace and anything else, and the cables don't kink and are super flexible!)<br />

Started reading this gem today, my mum dropped off a massive crate of books from my old house and of course held my entire collection of Harry Potter books. I've started to re read them and they're just as brilliant as I remember them. Anyway, I'm up to number four now!<br />

<br />
I've spent a portion of the evening redoing my logos and headers, just to give it a little refresher! I'm hoping to add a few new things to the blog such as baking and drawing, to give a little variety to it.<br />
<br />
So what do you think of the new look? Have you redone your blog recently?littlejesshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11544233802215101346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495576763563499479.post-70725996236708797882014-01-27T03:29:00.001-08:002014-01-27T03:29:58.042-08:00W.I.P Honey Cowl<p> </p>

<p> Did another hour or so of knitting on this lovely honey cowl yesterday. It's knitting up rather quickly which is nice. I'm wondering whether it was a better idea to have knitted the larger version as I did buy two balls of Monsoon, but perhaps I could make another one to give to a friend of a giveaway?</p>
<p>Yesterday I tried my hand at a little bit of baking, I didn't manage to take any pictures, but me and my other half fancied something sweet after dinner. I had a look at what we had in the cupboard and my ingredients consisted of flour, milk, butter, cinnamon sticks, maple syrup and eggs. I didn't even have any sugar! Luckily enough I was able to whip up some sugar free cookies with maple syrup, sprinkled with cinnamon. It did the job although the recipe was a little floury, I'll make some adjustments and post it here!</p>
<p>'Til next time!</p>

Hello dear readers! I am sorry its been so long, we've had Christmas and New Years and I've moved my business premises so it's all been very hectic! But I hope you'll forgive me.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have a few little projects on the go, firstly I have a very simple square blanket I knitted for my little sister. She's now 10 weeks old and it's not finished, I'm doing very badly! I thought having a simple garter stitch pattern would be fun as I could knit it and not worry about remembering pattern notes but its been a little tedious. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So now I know for my projects:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Lace is good,</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cables are good,</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Shaping is good!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So here's one I cast on yesterday. Its getting much colder here in the UK, and because I've been rubbish I havent knitted anything in the summer like you're meant to ready for the cold weather. I'll be hurriedly doing it now!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I perused my local yarn store and fondled all the balls (oo-er) I could get my hands on, but the colours in the gorgeous <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/james-c-brett-monsoon" target="_blank">Monsoon by James C. Brett</a> caught my eyes. I bought two, they're soft and wonderful and make my eyes happy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjUgSQWpnjx64OVKYycrWSYl65RgLOzDfrbdhgKn6ra3UWTLf_Tabo2OakRxlhLMS3YWe3bHAbeu8JQBgJr9qsM2lVzphT7BLIyDTQbmIoHPUVKgim7BAJ91k2gl-Rzgk-BZuD4EY0iCd1/s1600/1491583_10152819406414057_1768002264_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjUgSQWpnjx64OVKYycrWSYl65RgLOzDfrbdhgKn6ra3UWTLf_Tabo2OakRxlhLMS3YWe3bHAbeu8JQBgJr9qsM2lVzphT7BLIyDTQbmIoHPUVKgim7BAJ91k2gl-Rzgk-BZuD4EY0iCd1/s1600/1491583_10152819406414057_1768002264_n.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Pattern wise I decided on the lovely <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/honey-cowl" target="_blank">Honey Cowl</a>. It's one of the most popular patterns on Ravelry right now and I can see why! Not much to remember but an interesting pattern nonetheless to follow. I'm making the shorter version currently which will only use one ball, so I'll either make another one or maybe a matching hat? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyway, here's my progress after a few hours. I am LOVING it. I've never tried a slip stitch pattern before and its really interesting. The gaps between the rows make little honeycomb shapes, which incidently I suppose the name of the pattern comes from!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0EiFelrLlWnYAw6fxoargshaRUrUGIe2C85altj-VtC1gvWfeuWyBCJOVv75ElLEZ_rYOTZPSD0LbQHCq9kJJJrEwxa_r7sBBLlvyZxGPOkvS-pQwYR5SWMTPnhK-JIopU0HYeqmnR4WZ/s1600/photo+(6).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0EiFelrLlWnYAw6fxoargshaRUrUGIe2C85altj-VtC1gvWfeuWyBCJOVv75ElLEZ_rYOTZPSD0LbQHCq9kJJJrEwxa_r7sBBLlvyZxGPOkvS-pQwYR5SWMTPnhK-JIopU0HYeqmnR4WZ/s1600/photo+(6).JPG" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Loving how this is knitting up! Colours changing gradually.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I suspect this may be a little itchy on the skin but a little wool wash should sort it right out!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway I'm going to go right back at it! </div>

<br />
Hello again! I have been stitching like a mad woman and tonight I present to you this washed out night-time image of my stitching! I forgot to get a picture in daylight but have tried to edit to show the colours correctly. I'm so happy I've gotten to the point where you can see my Mums face, its a little more motivating to show it coming together now!<br /><br />Also, I have done a terrible silly thing. Notice that torn edge on the right side? I decided to "trim" the edges so I didn't have so much fabric hanging off the edge of my frame and instead sheared off most of it. I completely forgot to leave some for the frame and stretching!<br /><br />So guys, have I ruined it? Could a professional printing place frame it with that much fabric there? I was planning on just the stitched area showing anyway. Oh well, thats a mistake I won't be making again!<br /><br />I'll post some more progress in a couple of weeks :) I've been so busy working and doing other hobbies (drawing/video games etc.) I don't think I'll be updating this more than bi-monthly, but I will be updating and thats all that matters!<br /><br />See you next time ladies and gents.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's been a few weeks, but I thought I'd try and leave enough time to show a substantial update - and here it is!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihC14s5vuGe8Os1jric4IPUDovgMmV-A2ImVOdAI94x3NbYJnFVTAX0PeGxxoE3JHQwqt-YpMzHsQ4UC3V3a2NsBXfo1qcbZXrdyUt0bDSZUW8yCSS-0Lolzrz2FMj4cJf3FRSuuYVijpM/s1600/DSC04695.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihC14s5vuGe8Os1jric4IPUDovgMmV-A2ImVOdAI94x3NbYJnFVTAX0PeGxxoE3JHQwqt-YpMzHsQ4UC3V3a2NsBXfo1qcbZXrdyUt0bDSZUW8yCSS-0Lolzrz2FMj4cJf3FRSuuYVijpM/s640/DSC04695.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
So I've done the entire top 3 rows! I've parked my threads for the next (massive) page and will start it tomorrow when I have more natural light. I'm really pleased with how its going so far although it is slow! Should be able to see my dear mothers face soon :)<br /><br />Also got these beautiful things in the post today from sewandso! (I highly recommend this company if you are from the UK like me!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikch3m6dauvozJJapvovdjAQGAoH5wCzg7hs_WRcTiR-DXkv4WB1DjUpTubH4G-k1o0fe7B2w3z8A4mCBngXaG9BbmAr_Ac9QM9L8I9Pj0clEMjmJrrONMSNO9p_cSVXTPneUzLOuB2xvX/s1600/DSC04697.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikch3m6dauvozJJapvovdjAQGAoH5wCzg7hs_WRcTiR-DXkv4WB1DjUpTubH4G-k1o0fe7B2w3z8A4mCBngXaG9BbmAr_Ac9QM9L8I9Pj0clEMjmJrrONMSNO9p_cSVXTPneUzLOuB2xvX/s640/DSC04697.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I adore these scissors, reminds me of one of those big black vintage sewing machines! They're nice and sharp and I don't have to 'saw' at the threads to cut them anymore.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVeWiyW-GrZNEIDyMYPHbKOZ4c7AC4xvGQ2-4wa9oI7K-d0mV1VDDecWX-Yj6KWaOsnRjELpGv78fD8bsyfJ2ggvZdCbtBvFp8Jnj3ojwcJEvMPRB_mbOi13Omd0dlKFPZwPhepsREuQki/s1600/DSC04698.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVeWiyW-GrZNEIDyMYPHbKOZ4c7AC4xvGQ2-4wa9oI7K-d0mV1VDDecWX-Yj6KWaOsnRjELpGv78fD8bsyfJ2ggvZdCbtBvFp8Jnj3ojwcJEvMPRB_mbOi13Omd0dlKFPZwPhepsREuQki/s640/DSC04698.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This neat little thing is called a Needle Minder, it has a magnet attached to it, with another magnet that sits on the otherside of your fabric and holds it in place. When you're not using your needle you pop it on the needle minder and it'll keep it nice and safe for you! I have two kittens so making sure that a stray needle doesn't fall on the floor is my top priority, this helps a little for my anxieties!<br />
<br />
So thats it for this update, hope to get a little more done soon as my due time is looming!<br />
Thanks for looking!<br />
<br />

Its been a couple of weeks since my last post, I would show more frequently how I'm getting on, however I'm not the quickest! I don't want to inundate you all with daily posts of the few stitches I've managed to do here and there... so here's a more substantial update!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, I feel like the worst knitter in the world. If you're a knitter you may know how enjoyable knitting teeny clothes for newborn babies are and how satisfying it is to knit up pieces so quickly. I'm fighting a losing battle with my Suzette cardigan and stopped knitting at all for a few months (Hello cross stitch!) and didn't think there was any point doing baby stuff as noone in my family were close to having babies!<br /><br />However my brain failed to notice that MY OWN MOTHER has had a bun in the oven for 6 MONTHS! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yeah, thats 6 entire months of lost knitting time, how many little baby booties and mittens is that?!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I scoured my digital copies of <i>The Knitter</i> and found an adorable baby pattern called <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-vine-baby-jacket" target="_blank">Little Vine</a> (Ravelry link) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I went out and spent a ludicrous amount (£11) on 2 gorgeous balls of <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/debbie-bliss-baby-cashmerino" target="_blank">Debbie Bliss Cashmerino</a>, because every baby needs cashmere in their life, even if it will be 12 weeks before they grow out of it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeszpjJZ3U_dSeIcHpbYc5N7oZCrD_pZaEQ220D5f7PAm8-AgF6zwrt8APR9nnjnAp0zfCyQpuNwUMoPK6CDVG0I4s7ebteV8lCVzrZ5SyRXviP0a5U5yQeRw7vobTt-EI364Fau7OOqVN/s1600/DSC04592.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeszpjJZ3U_dSeIcHpbYc5N7oZCrD_pZaEQ220D5f7PAm8-AgF6zwrt8APR9nnjnAp0zfCyQpuNwUMoPK6CDVG0I4s7ebteV8lCVzrZ5SyRXviP0a5U5yQeRw7vobTt-EI364Fau7OOqVN/s640/DSC04592.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Its knitting up so fast its awesome, although I'm used to doing adult clothes that take forever. Alas my camera has absolutely butchered the colour of this yarn. Its not this sickly red colour going on right now, its a gorgeous deep purple, like wine and mulberries. Here is the swatch from the Deramores site, it's much more accurate: <a href="http://cdn.deramores.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/u/n/untitled-shoot-003-5_7.jpg" target="_blank">Cashmerino in Plum</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUEoC2yPuKZ6WXAe61m8_aZaucLY8HjFwJr6uV4EVQXPXY2yiXGP6dPF-2Dqu5CILKHfYOBbMkB9EGu5IlIunwbAAGvxj9JvbM468jBZ3EEI87ZW3_Qu_hxdJMdCCaMtw_EixXIPL8nP2A/s1600/DSC04595.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUEoC2yPuKZ6WXAe61m8_aZaucLY8HjFwJr6uV4EVQXPXY2yiXGP6dPF-2Dqu5CILKHfYOBbMkB9EGu5IlIunwbAAGvxj9JvbM468jBZ3EEI87ZW3_Qu_hxdJMdCCaMtw_EixXIPL8nP2A/s640/DSC04595.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As always, I'm using my trusty <a href="http://www.signatureneedlearts.com/" target="_blank">Knitting Needs by Signature Needle Arts</a> which are hands down my favourite knitting purchase ever. These are 3.5mm with the super sharp Stiletto tips (great for lace!)<br />
<br />
The little vine pattern is easy to memorize and enjoyable to do. Nothing too taxing, a few YOs and SLKPs and the usual knit and purls!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgipvHQ-aA5g9ZONGPZHlExMMq1m_wQqSv548kTY5DrIw1swWLjEuRojCzMYuxmbh6YBYewXqJv0WRXkKdtRZ1gYVLE6WyZefLj4dvqQEzh39Z69NlRxG8ZuydlpLUPXrw-sNMK8yi1w5UA/s1600/DSC04596.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgipvHQ-aA5g9ZONGPZHlExMMq1m_wQqSv548kTY5DrIw1swWLjEuRojCzMYuxmbh6YBYewXqJv0WRXkKdtRZ1gYVLE6WyZefLj4dvqQEzh39Z69NlRxG8ZuydlpLUPXrw-sNMK8yi1w5UA/s640/DSC04596.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's the back knitted up and the left front, just the right and arms left!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJru-ZuZZoNV1vh1hkIHaVeG3wvXfXCZ-VdzZMwoCrfNVdsVe-HJzHLK2IZ_9h3GahEvMMCuQLJVYB4YKm7lFaMiSfo_YvPYfcHxVbUw2vGeprxY4dDMO-vhWxsex_yld-zPaOptRIyytx/s1600/DSC04597.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJru-ZuZZoNV1vh1hkIHaVeG3wvXfXCZ-VdzZMwoCrfNVdsVe-HJzHLK2IZ_9h3GahEvMMCuQLJVYB4YKm7lFaMiSfo_YvPYfcHxVbUw2vGeprxY4dDMO-vhWxsex_yld-zPaOptRIyytx/s640/DSC04597.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I've done lots more on my Wedding Cross Stitch, although it seems to take forever. I'm cutting time by using lots of needles with each colour so I'm not rethreading all the times, and using the parking method!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkO3PZKvvqSNByj-7UDZDqww8la7gEAS9IUZ8JHTdBWrlluDSrUWiBDDCBbJGWzBqkKtW4nXO4Tujh5t28svC0C24Vj9zY13OFAT_fSqUl2nIjXD6OtA33wPko49T5mMgyrpBF-UlupVM3/s1600/DSC04591.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkO3PZKvvqSNByj-7UDZDqww8la7gEAS9IUZ8JHTdBWrlluDSrUWiBDDCBbJGWzBqkKtW4nXO4Tujh5t28svC0C24Vj9zY13OFAT_fSqUl2nIjXD6OtA33wPko49T5mMgyrpBF-UlupVM3/s640/DSC04591.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I took this photo this morning so you can see the colours better (hadn't stitched as much then) but I love doing the little greens, oranges and purples that pop up, and it all works so well together!<br /><br />While I'm not sure that I'll get it done by December, in fact we all know that'll be a small miracle, I'm enjoying the process as I go, and I'm adding up a small collection of patterns I want to do once its finished!<br />
<br />
<i>(To see the wedding cross stitch progress in its entirety, click the wedding label down the right hand side of the blog, it will show all posts!)</i><br /><br />'Til next time.<br />

This is the design, all ready to stitch with DMC threads:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_xPKRmpHcJtZzynh1BTWe89XRscBIhw3MXOMGdk2hkUHDIHm8diAExuCzKKXCPAMXiMgO06a9HxUYDe1LCfVeCp8BgEp1wvWFg_IdiEiIVawYJI1hoGCy8Nz0dLbxJdlItoW1HrU1OVz2/s1600/crosstitch.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="526" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_xPKRmpHcJtZzynh1BTWe89XRscBIhw3MXOMGdk2hkUHDIHm8diAExuCzKKXCPAMXiMgO06a9HxUYDe1LCfVeCp8BgEp1wvWFg_IdiEiIVawYJI1hoGCy8Nz0dLbxJdlItoW1HrU1OVz2/s640/crosstitch.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Its my Mother and my Step-Dad on their wedding day last year! I adore this picture and their entire wedding was vintage themed, with vinyl and cupcakes and a rock 'n' roll band. I thought what better than to cross-stitch their photo to enjoy for years to come?<br />
<br />
So a few weeks have passed and I've been trying to do a 10x10 square a day. I'm not doing so well, but after learning the "parking method", my stitching has sped up tenfold! As you can see from the pattern, in 100 crossstitch squares, there can be 30 or 40 colour changes! So parking has suited me very well.<br />
<br />
Here is some progress pictures, and how my "cross stitch caddy" is set up!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_3PRkc-SABR1VMPrOJfYVULpXmBNHhgssYMdjSi3b5mQQkqW4U90Lp2hmnU53o8Y3KOeEf6k5jmROavG4AtgUiXkyHiFFqHxXemDf_ApFBllGtKHsg4KPbI3snAWw7htToWIms6oz85Jq/s1600/DSC04558.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_3PRkc-SABR1VMPrOJfYVULpXmBNHhgssYMdjSi3b5mQQkqW4U90Lp2hmnU53o8Y3KOeEf6k5jmROavG4AtgUiXkyHiFFqHxXemDf_ApFBllGtKHsg4KPbI3snAWw7htToWIms6oz85Jq/s640/DSC04558.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I have approximately 27 colours, and many more skiens in storage just in case I run out! My caddy has removeable sections which is really useful, as I've made a little bin for my waste threads, and a section for my pens, needles and scissors!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ6IGp7COsdlQNpGqYe4G7czCelD3INTgOFK8jS8LWcuogHAiWbskKwazn0vUElV0KzAXnydAvbI8Veowv5w_UQzgkCn2ctUOnKAvJc3mxUWz5qbCSYP2PYPlOrUrLuTxsd5cEywqYjALQ/s1600/DSC04559.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ6IGp7COsdlQNpGqYe4G7czCelD3INTgOFK8jS8LWcuogHAiWbskKwazn0vUElV0KzAXnydAvbI8Veowv5w_UQzgkCn2ctUOnKAvJc3mxUWz5qbCSYP2PYPlOrUrLuTxsd5cEywqYjALQ/s640/DSC04559.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the first (and smallest!) page I'm doing, as it starts in the top left. I didn't like the idea of starting in the middle and spending months rubbing my wrists over finished needlework and making it tatty!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimcQzkFT76RmLXeP420K_3JwcJKxi5YVrt6_Pde5mTjmNCzaD8wLId1hR1pzCvaxz30viJXLxm3NxI-QI4L_7Sz4CljSaxWFzrW1ZV9MoBhcmsI9r90yAh9Z-cJPSiAGHVG00gOLtdh2Ot/s1600/DSC04561.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimcQzkFT76RmLXeP420K_3JwcJKxi5YVrt6_Pde5mTjmNCzaD8wLId1hR1pzCvaxz30viJXLxm3NxI-QI4L_7Sz4CljSaxWFzrW1ZV9MoBhcmsI9r90yAh9Z-cJPSiAGHVG00gOLtdh2Ot/s640/DSC04561.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I do try to wind my bobbins neatly but sometimes it just doesn't happen!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghw78384KHxw1e1Ng9bQ2ZeiDHlkNSCUM0PGpXkb3b9WSh1OavXzr2nZ67dodQva53BK91ZOzN5E5P_ohycRHDgtNAOoyuAeTMvg1WGToyDjKDu42Ddujo1n5IVQs1P6v5auHYIrVKEExK/s1600/DSC04562.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghw78384KHxw1e1Ng9bQ2ZeiDHlkNSCUM0PGpXkb3b9WSh1OavXzr2nZ67dodQva53BK91ZOzN5E5P_ohycRHDgtNAOoyuAeTMvg1WGToyDjKDu42Ddujo1n5IVQs1P6v5auHYIrVKEExK/s640/DSC04562.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used a thin sharpie to write the symbols and numbers on the bobbins, this helps for quick selection. As I'm using at least 10-12 colours at a time, I like being able to quickly find a colour bobbin and check it against the thread to make sure I'm using the right one!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnagZ41r31tqfZc5y3MPBhM9EjshQvQ-KTDxHj5K94mRZXT7aLlF6SYO1uYMeTBdBaAtJuQAvfpu4IxvTAF5bpfPnN_Lau2DlLC-31FtI5bOiNOeCWhn4bJtBzIuzixe0LpXXne9UCmFP-/s1600/DSC04566.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnagZ41r31tqfZc5y3MPBhM9EjshQvQ-KTDxHj5K94mRZXT7aLlF6SYO1uYMeTBdBaAtJuQAvfpu4IxvTAF5bpfPnN_Lau2DlLC-31FtI5bOiNOeCWhn4bJtBzIuzixe0LpXXne9UCmFP-/s640/DSC04566.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
1500 stitches so far (I think!) if you compare it to the picture above you can see it coming together! I gridded with a wash away marker, that will disappear when I wash it (or I hope so, otherwise tears will be shed and tantrums had!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh19vYPooIUmm6z6IZM1Kva3BIPURUbBQ0DFYbvcIxsb-BrBXzTimqoVB5Et_LoUrB8uMKvWPW33b34OyVqjSjbbYkeZnSd-QTB2aTM37QP4iV5_NDrZvx5iLz3nOD7KU6hNWcvb-bt9TAv/s1600/DSC04563.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh19vYPooIUmm6z6IZM1Kva3BIPURUbBQ0DFYbvcIxsb-BrBXzTimqoVB5Et_LoUrB8uMKvWPW33b34OyVqjSjbbYkeZnSd-QTB2aTM37QP4iV5_NDrZvx5iLz3nOD7KU6hNWcvb-bt9TAv/s640/DSC04563.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm using an R&R Frame, which is a plastic snap frame to hold your embroidery. In the US a similar brand is Q-Snap! I really recommend these as you can keep them in the frames for long periods of time, and unlike embroidery hoops, doesn't leave harsh line marks!<br /><br />I'm using the largest size available, 17" x 17" which is quite unwieldy to be honest, but I've gotten used to it, and I like being able to eventually see the entire cross stitch on it! My local needlework shop has ordered in some smaller sizes for me for future projects, as I can't see myself going back to hoops after this!<br />
<br />
Thankyou for looking!<br />

Luckily I had some leftover Anchor thread from an old kit I left years ago which did me perfectly! I'd say it probably took around 6-10 hours total, I didn't really time it but I was very very slow! I also tried to take the time to make the back as neat as possible and I think I did pretty well!<br /><br />Anyway, here are the pics :D<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2s_VyU6z07q6ZJGQ80VjbyFxgmIf0TjdamkusQEe1dWRbb4N38PkK9pOp1oMbpa6uGQ21z-B4HTLN1lclPk0PIhWld_mbx_guzFSGtSmrs9UxJXTakJQRI7oT1kC9llxQ1S2vPveETubk/s1600/DSC04474.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2s_VyU6z07q6ZJGQ80VjbyFxgmIf0TjdamkusQEe1dWRbb4N38PkK9pOp1oMbpa6uGQ21z-B4HTLN1lclPk0PIhWld_mbx_guzFSGtSmrs9UxJXTakJQRI7oT1kC9llxQ1S2vPveETubk/s640/DSC04474.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I ended up keeping the wooden embroidery hoop and using it as a frame, I love the look! It also kinda goes with the kitties fur.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy0tJt8CFg5ofFTKynr_1r33H9Du2V47jt9WemGsHb16e4J4wzJZySX4gfFqTgDpe8DjUnbnt5QXetgBzJCVQQu8GcJdAUPO7mq4PXh8HFOhaD-xQZgbW4IzwFSYpk7wpqx_-ihq75b2de/s1600/DSC04477.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy0tJt8CFg5ofFTKynr_1r33H9Du2V47jt9WemGsHb16e4J4wzJZySX4gfFqTgDpe8DjUnbnt5QXetgBzJCVQQu8GcJdAUPO7mq4PXh8HFOhaD-xQZgbW4IzwFSYpk7wpqx_-ihq75b2de/s640/DSC04477.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's the back, I did reasonably well until I did the backstitching and I was so impatient to get it finished I wasn't as disciplined with making sure it was all tied togther! Still happy with the result.<br />
<br />
So thats my first proper project done! What was yours? When did you feel like you'd become more of an accomplished stitcher?<br />
<br />

I can't always knit and I find my blog posting schedule is suffering for it as I don't have much to show!<br />
<br />
I adore cross stitching, I've only done a few hours worth in my life but the artwork is stunning. I can spend hours browsing other peoples handiwork!<br />
<br />
I think I could look at making my own patterns in conjunction with my tattoo designs and artwork, it would be so much fun!<br />
<br />
So here is my afternoon in pictures with an old cross stitch magazine and some free threads! I had to pop into town to get a tension ring and some needles as I'd lost everything but after that I settled down with some Downton Abbey!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTpwD3h-S0AI9u7rhxYu2nZ_s9fIOydoIsRK7d_y0EyUeW7YyRhDUNGgzpIfk7dhzO3OUW8e5aIa3JB1gnjPwr0r-NbulvSaKbKWCaTddJEaSH0Edg5CuVW5XbRbpp3J4ZA1cDHvIa5p9b/s1600/DSC04462.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTpwD3h-S0AI9u7rhxYu2nZ_s9fIOydoIsRK7d_y0EyUeW7YyRhDUNGgzpIfk7dhzO3OUW8e5aIa3JB1gnjPwr0r-NbulvSaKbKWCaTddJEaSH0Edg5CuVW5XbRbpp3J4ZA1cDHvIa5p9b/s640/DSC04462.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I highly underestimated how useful my iPad would be when it came to digital magazines! I get the issues straight away, a couple of quid cheaper and I can follow all the cross stitch patterns on there! I was browing for inspiration while I stitched this tiny teapot.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5oWiU1fQ5g7zlblSrXiU9dUOPldxC5sfLdtd1OIxHVUt2VCvwfdCKpOQGMljqjyn17Bf2vH8w_6uG-yTSfFCUo54EbR5j6iMZWvEQgzwN_9IwnSTwFGMayzDSDGc3w3__w56bWzURtxu2/s1600/DSC04464.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5oWiU1fQ5g7zlblSrXiU9dUOPldxC5sfLdtd1OIxHVUt2VCvwfdCKpOQGMljqjyn17Bf2vH8w_6uG-yTSfFCUo54EbR5j6iMZWvEQgzwN_9IwnSTwFGMayzDSDGc3w3__w56bWzURtxu2/s640/DSC04464.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This is around 2 hours in, seriously, I'm so slowwwww! But I adore the little squares and watching it grow colour by colour is addictive.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVew3cwtqcZqTjjgII60JVRrzjXtA24uQfvwNXTUT_vnuyQWQZMTY3Oa1_t62sP3VhjExdCQfKjWWujnSqnIxL8SEu8esjfHHJ3pTVTAOmiZzs4wcrCD9N8z1Q6IjpUPiIhxT-LYaucRyS/s1600/DSC04466.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVew3cwtqcZqTjjgII60JVRrzjXtA24uQfvwNXTUT_vnuyQWQZMTY3Oa1_t62sP3VhjExdCQfKjWWujnSqnIxL8SEu8esjfHHJ3pTVTAOmiZzs4wcrCD9N8z1Q6IjpUPiIhxT-LYaucRyS/s640/DSC04466.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
R.I.P kitty cross stitch. This was the first one I tried to do over a year ago and I think I was a little over ambitions. I still have around 15 colours from the kit that I haven't used and I've lost the pattern now, so I'll have to think of something else.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOelD0MuGJftmMizqQt9beEeVHUGUoMKbMxogrOAwY99gCiytuS-JE0QTBzJIbMYyDUSLWMQ1WKFShQKt6JPFym3igAJIkeHgXorqVnQHnJBY5SrES8hRQ5SnBpcPFzNZpjqymYH-4d_3Y/s1600/DSC04468.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOelD0MuGJftmMizqQt9beEeVHUGUoMKbMxogrOAwY99gCiytuS-JE0QTBzJIbMYyDUSLWMQ1WKFShQKt6JPFym3igAJIkeHgXorqVnQHnJBY5SrES8hRQ5SnBpcPFzNZpjqymYH-4d_3Y/s640/DSC04468.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The pattern in the magazine, I got some lovely pastel coloured threads free with the magazine that work well with all the designs there.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_bZlXkVXTKA0rkjvc6FuMDvllCRDmLGU_8IGUpNW88HeSrmlTScUHVWI0EoPWukY33Bc24m-gjFewBRqvW6lYR1FIIkF118AVQ6Lj9XANHpsZlUe_-ANKK-NN0dx3LLNmJUTAXrHXzc3t/s1600/DSC04470.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_bZlXkVXTKA0rkjvc6FuMDvllCRDmLGU_8IGUpNW88HeSrmlTScUHVWI0EoPWukY33Bc24m-gjFewBRqvW6lYR1FIIkF118AVQ6Lj9XANHpsZlUe_-ANKK-NN0dx3LLNmJUTAXrHXzc3t/s640/DSC04470.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Finished this evening! Sorry for the poor lighting but there wasn't much left at this point! The colours aren't quite right (check out that yellow!) but I didn't have them all in the free threads. Still think it looks okay though.<br />
<br />
I'm officially addicted. If you know anyone who has a cross stitching blog that still updates, I'd love to read it!<br />
<br />

<br />
I was never into clothes and fashion until I was about nineteen... (two years ago!) As I was always a bit of a tomboy and put more time into hobbies than I did clothes. But people who can put outfits together and look good in unusual and striking outfits just amaze me. Its almost like a new skill I'm trying desperately to learn!<br /><br />As most crafters go though, the majority of my money goes into art supplies, yarn, threads... anything that isn't clothing! I am hoping this will change though.<br />
<br />
I do enjoy wearing and buying clothes nowadays and I'm hoping that recording and blogging about them will give me motivation to put more time and effort into it! Who knows, maybe I can look back in years to come and see a massive improvement!<br />

I have a love affair with maroon right now, and I love a slouchy cardigan (especially after a week of junk food!) It was pretty warm on the day so I didn't feel like wearing jeans or shorts. I decided on a light dress and woolen tights incase it got cooler later on. Knowing the british weather you have to be ready for anything!<br />

I went for a pulled back pony tail as I have very thick hair and can get too hot on sunny days! I decided on matching my lipstick with my dress and heavier eyebrows to give a more dramatic look!<br /><br />

WIP Candle Flame ScarfFinally managed to put some photos together for a new WIP I've been working on recently! My older project <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/LittleJessKnits/susette">Susette</a> is currently stalled at the stage where I'm joining the sleeves and body together, I'ts become above my skill level and I've ripped back several times. So it looks like its sitting in the bottom of my knitting drawer, and I'd rather start on new projects to keep my blog nice and active.<br />
<br />
So here we go! I've done around a foot or so now, a lovely 24 row lace pattern, the yarn is James C Brett Cotton on and is loooovely and soft. Although I didn't think about how it would block, being part acrylic. I just hope it does!<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I browse Pinterest daily, whether its in between appointments at work or in the evenings before I go to bed. It seems to be very popular in the blogging community and is a great way to share your own interests to your readers! I figured I could post a few of mine every now and again, as my knitting progress is rather slow and so my posts have slowed somewhat!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I will be posting up pictures of a new project I've been working on tonight, Ive gotten everything ready to take pictures and realised my camera is out of battery!</div>
<br />

I'm very much a starter and not a finisher, although I was trying to change that.<br />
<br />
Instead of waiting 6 months to finish this current project I've just started a new one, and hopefully the other will get done in time. So then I'll get to blog about my smaller projects.<br />
<br />
As I've said on here before, I'm a tattoo artist, and I've got heaps of work to show those of you who are interested! (If tattoos aren't your thing then that's completely fine with me - feel free to skip the rest of this post!)<br />
<br />
These are a selection over the past couple of months, I'm super proud of some of the work I've done. I've been concentrating on my artwork and not on my knitting, and I feel I should be able to balance both, so more work is needed!<br />

<br />littlejesshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11544233802215101346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495576763563499479.post-21510147468113034482013-03-30T05:44:00.001-07:002013-03-30T05:44:56.457-07:00Challenging myself, one tattoo at a time!I often find with tattooing that ill end up doing the same style of tattoos over and over again, and ill feel like I'm stagnating. For example, these past couple of weeks I've been doing lots of floral tattoos, mainly roses. Now I love roses, they're one of my favourite subjects to tattoo, but I felt like I could do them with my eyes closed and upside down! So every so often, from an artistic perspective, it's good to drag yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new.<br />
<br />
I got requested to do a realistic lions head, now considering I mainly do colour cartoony stuff, doing a black and grey lions head was a big big change. Especially with realism/portraiture, your at a massive risk of shading too much or too lightly and making them look like they've ran into a fridge! Although I let him know this, he said he didn't mind and that he'd like me to do it.<br />
<br />
So it took 3 hours in, lots of my concentration and equipment, and I have to say it turned out better than I ever thought! So I had a nice confidence boost, and it's getting a lot of good attention via Facebook! Let me know what you all think!<br />
<br />
I understand that tattooing still has a lot of stigma, I hope to bring to the knitting community that tattoos is just another art form and creative outlet, and can be appreciated as such, despite perhaps not wanting one themselves!<br />
<br />
Til next time - Jess x <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFMUgCchtg8c7fKcSLdsmdEqooZPMkKGlpGWtdMBi5EKk1FsA20k5lvhbdAKgy_FB0ViJOgMIGIgg85oNEYySFdSQ6YBMzx1wB379bSRSYJtBBrq70n72uTTd0AM_AUZzUgnF0qbNRdi-a/s640/blogger-image--1021637259.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFMUgCchtg8c7fKcSLdsmdEqooZPMkKGlpGWtdMBi5EKk1FsA20k5lvhbdAKgy_FB0ViJOgMIGIgg85oNEYySFdSQ6YBMzx1wB379bSRSYJtBBrq70n72uTTd0AM_AUZzUgnF0qbNRdi-a/s640/blogger-image--1021637259.jpg" /></a></div>littlejesshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11544233802215101346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495576763563499479.post-57692234811909314982013-03-22T09:19:00.004-07:002013-03-22T09:19:40.978-07:00Speedpainting and slow progress.My blog has looked quite bare these past few weeks, I must apologise, I've been spending a mountain of time working! I've started a project of sorts, recording my art and speedpainting, posting them on youtube for my customers (and others) to see. I bought a tripod and a big fat memory card for a few hours of HD video and spent an afternoon recording.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here's the outcome, I'm really pleased with it: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxT8rMbzNH0">Youtube</a> link.<br />
<br />
The art style probably wont be to everyones taste, but I've always enjoyed watching how people have draw things, and you can always learn something new!<br />
<br />
As for my cardigan, I am still working away! I have knitted both sleeves and 26cms of the body, each row is over 200 stitches and its taking a fair amount of time. Hoping to have some progress up for you guys soon!<br />

Its taken a little longer than I thought to finish the arms, but they are done. It was relatively easy too, just a couple of increases every 10 rounds 9 times, after the fair isle chart!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've tried to edit the photos to show the actual colours but most of them have come out more red whereas the main colour is more of a deep wine/maroon.</div>

I'll be posting a follow up post with photos shortly, but while I'm waiting for my camera battery to charge, I thought I'd make a short post with some ideas and posts that have caught my attention on Pinterest this week!<br />
<br />
This week includes: a gorgeous chunky knit scarf; some adorable paper crafted owls and a sophisticated nude and silver nail art idea.<br />
<br />
What has inspired you this week? <br />

I'm going to one every other day, as I'd like to keep quality over quantity when it comes to my blog posts.<br />
<br />
This is what I've come up with so far for a schedule, this may change over time but I'm hoping I can keep up with it!<br />
<br />
<br />
<b><i>Tattoo Tuesday</i></b> - as I am a tattooist and its a large and exciting part of my life, I'd like to have a day to focus on what I've done in the past week, as well as artwork.<br />
<br />
<b><i>W.I.P Wednesday</i></b> - this will be a post dedicated to whatever I'm currently working on, with progress and thoughts.<br />
<br />
<b><i>Inspiration Friday </i></b>- a post for pictures and articles of crafts and art that have inspired me.<br />
<br />
<i style="font-weight: bold;">Planning Sunday</i> - showing whats ahead for the incoming week, this to look forward to.littlejesshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11544233802215101346noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2495576763563499479.post-40348483771928825312013-02-07T09:10:00.001-08:002013-02-07T09:10:20.960-08:00Waiting to cast on...<div style="text-align: center;">
I've had my eye on a particular pattern since I finished the Holden Shawlette, and since I've had a few days off knitting, I am ITCHING to start again! This one is called <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/susette">Susette (Ravelry pattern link)</a> and I adore it. The subtle draping, the fair isle motif, and mainly the fact its the first knitted cardigan I've really liked! Here are some scans from The Knitter, which is the magazine I found it in.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm not a huge fan of the colours selected for this, mainly because it just isn't "me". I usually wear darker colours, and that beige would wash out my skin tone. I've instead gone for a maroon/dark pink main colour, with the fair isle motif being a mix of teal blue, forget me not blue and black, a little more rock 'n' roll!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've just ordered 12 balls of Artesano DK, which is the recommended yarn, and I'm excited to recieve it, its 100% alpaca which is the first i've ever bought. I usually stick to wool as the more luxurious yarn scares me! But I'm going to try and make a quality garment for myself to wear with pride. Which I should considering all the yarn cost £59!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I found some pictures of the yarn on the Artesano website, so hopefully you can see what kind of colour scheme I'm trying to achieve.</div>

I've done it. I've really done it. It might not seem like much, as many knitters have done it before me, but it's a massive achievement for me, and a massive step up to what I believe I am now capable of.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
From casting on to binding off, the entire thing took me 9 days, I'm not sure whether thats alot or a little, but I've burnt myself out a little now, I've been wanting to do this for so long and now I'm not sure what to do next! But I'm sure a quick browse of Ravelry will sort me out.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have to say the most painful part of this project was the picot bind off, first time I've done it and it took FOREVER! I had 309 stitches to bind off with it and you had to keep casting on more! My hands ended up very achey and I had to take breaks, but I'm glad I pushed through!</div>

So far so good, the first stage of stockinette always was the easiest part for me, I'm now moving onto the lace and I'm a bit terrified, but I've put a life line in (hot pink thread) so I can rip back to it safely if I mess up.</div>

Hoping to get this done as soon as possible for my Mum, as I've wanted to knit her something for the longest time! </div>

I've really been enjoying using the Signature needles I got for Christmas, I think they have attributed to how neat my knitting has become. Will post a few more progress shots in a few days.</div>

First FO of 2013 finished! Considering I'm notoriously a starter and not a finisher, this has made me quite a proud little lady. Since I started knitting in september 2011 I've only properly finished under 10 FOs. My new years knitting resolution is to finish every project that I start, only do one at a time, and blog each step appropriately. I think it'll be nice to look back and see how I'll improve over the years!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So Elleby finished blocking this morning, it's truly magical, before blocking it looked like a scrunched up maroon tube. I looked at it and wondered how it would possibly end up looking "slouchy". But lo and behold the lace has opened out and the slouchy look is there. I'm really happy with how it looks, and cant wait to wear it out and about! Here are a few pics:</div>
